It was tough to miss the Southwest Michigan product who is 6'4" 210 lbs and can play just about anywhere needed on the field both in high school and where he'll be asked to play in college.
"The decision for me was where I felt most comfortable and how the team reacted to me when I went there," said Murphy. "The atmosphere and the team made me feel like I was home! They made me feel like family and I love the program and people there!"
Murphy lined up at just about every skill position while in high school and GVSU has narrowed it down to defense, explained Murphy, "They plan to use me at a rush end and D- end type player and pass rush, more could come but that’s all for now they say."
Caleb Murphy had a great senior season as his Chieftains squad lost a tough game to Kalamazoo United in Round 1. Murphy provided his outlook on his senior season, "My senior season was amazing I played around my best friends and had a season that brought me from under the radar! 8/23/2017: The Southwestern Michigan town doesn't attract many people coming into the city, but it should this Fall to see the first Division 1 recruit in the city since 2013. Murphy is a tremendous multi-sport athlete and literally has played all of the positions besides on the OL. At 6'4" 210 lbs Murphy is at a crossroads of which position to be recruited at.
College interest: With a few D1-FBS and D2 offers, Murphy is in the spot he wants to be in as sometimes in his area, someone like him could go completely unnoticed.
