Cranbrook Football senior Pierson Cooke to play in the Blue-Grey All-American Bowl Jan. 6, 2018 in Tampa.
Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood senior K/P Pierson Cooke will play in the Blue Grey All American Bowl to be held in Tampa. The game will be played in Raymond James Stadium on January 6, 2018.
“It’s a great honor to have a player selected for this event,” said Cranbrook Head Coach Joe D’Angelo. “Pierson is a very deserving player and an outstanding college football prospect.”
He was vital to Cranbrook’s ground breaking playoff run this season, making in to the MHSAA Regional Final for the first time in history.
“Pierson gave us an added dimension with his strong special teams play,” said Cranes Head Coach Joe D’Angelo. “His kicking ability allowed us to put our opponents in tougher field positions.”
As a punter, he averaged 44 yards a punt with his longest being 64 yards. Of his 23 punts, 12 of them placed the other team inside their 20 yard line. As a placekicker, he made 53 of 55 PAT’s, for a 96% conversion rate. 45 of his 64 kickoffs were touch backs, averaging 56.8 yards per kickoff.
In 2017, Pierson was named All-State by the Michigan High School Coaches Association; AP All State Honorable Mention; Detroit News All North 2nd Team; Detroit Free Press All North Honorable Mention.
He was given a 5 out 5 stars rating by Kohl’s Kicking Camp
in punting and kicking. He placed 10th overall
in kickoffs and 20th in punts, nationally. According to their website, he is “he
is one of the best combo prospects in the country.”
The Blue-Grey All-American Bowl game will be televised on
ESPN 3.
