Hudsonville earned a 19-16 rivalry victory Friday night against Grandville to earn a spot in the regionals for the first time since 2019.

Grandville was first on the scoreboard late in the first quarter with a 27-yard touchdown by star running back Tank Terry.

The Bulldogs, who lost the regular-season matchup between these two teams by 19 points, added a field goal early in the second quarter to take a 10-0 lead.

Hudsonville, who had not lost since a three-point defeat Week 1 against Howell, were held scoreless heading into halftime.

That wouldn’t last long.

The Eagles quickly scored under three minutes into the second half on a Griffin Baker one-yard run. Grandville still held a 10-6 lead.

Before the end of the third quarter, the Eagles scored again, taking a 12-10 lead into the fourth.

Grandville reclaimed the lead midway through the fourth quarter on a 25-yard pass from Ethan Newville to Gibson Connelly.

Hudsonville answered with just under three minutes remaining in the game when Owen Haarsma broke free for a 27-yard score.

Eagles defensive back Trenton Naber then intercepted a Grandville pass to ice the game and help his team advance to the next round of the playoffs.
