Game Preview and Prospects The D Zone will be seeing at Detroit King and River Rouge (Story)
On Friday at 5:30 pm the biggest game outside of the State Championship in Division 3 will take place as Detroit King hosts River Rouge. The winner of this game will be a heavy favorite to reach Ford Field.
King is looking to rebound from a lopsided loss to their bitter enemies, Cass Tech. Their only 2 losses this year are to #1 Cass Tech and #2 Muskegon. River Rouge on the other hand has won 8 straight after their own lopsided loss to Cass Tech in week 1. Rouge is coming off of one of their most impressive wins over a Southfield A&T in week 9 who is also loaded with Division 1 recruits.
Below are the prospects we're aware of entering the game. We look forward to discovering more talent.
Detroit King:
2019 S Marvin Grant - #17 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Purdue commit. Who has shown tremendous range and the ability to hit hard.
2019 WR/OLB Jalen McGaughy - #24 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Northern Illinois commit, recently offered by SEC school, Mizzou McGaughy could be one of the biggest late bloomers which is surprising to say given that he's committed, but missed mostly all of last year so he hasn't been recruited at a high level yet. He had a very nice catch vs. Cass Tech last week.
2019 CB/WR Ahmad Gardner - #33 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Cincinnati commit. Long and lengthy with superb athleticism.
2019 MLB Rich Miller - #37 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Buffalo commit. One of the best in the state at getting to the ball and hits hard. Very fast athlete which is unfortunately lost in the shuffle due to him being a LB.
2019 QB Dequan Finn - #39 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Central Michigan commit. Finn is another who could see himself move up in the rankings. 6 total touchdowns vs. East St. Louis, IL in week 1 is mind-blowing given how strong of a program ESL is, but Finn has always been a gamer and a dominant player. That week 1 performance only set the tone for what has been an incredible senior season so far.
2019 WR Darrell Wyatt - #70 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Central Michigan commit. A long and rangy receiver who really solidified his routes over the off-season.
2019 OT Deshawn Ingram - #87 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Howard commit. A mauler who moves well and has long strong arms.
2019 CB/WR RayShawn Williams - #95 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Youngstown State commit. Williams is a very fast and aggressive player who has a knack for making plays.
2019 RB Shondel Hardnett - A balanced back at 5'10 and 190 lbs who holds 2 offers. Hardnett is a quiet killer who has really stepped up as a senior to carry the ball and be excellent in pass protection.
2020 WR Rashawn Williams - #7 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 29 offers. Showed he has a strong case of being ranked even higher which is full of good company in the Class of 2020 in Michigan.
2019 WR Dominick Hannah has had a breakout senior for the Crusaders as he's a super fast prospect who has been lethal in the slot for King this year. He's played himself into a priority Division II recruit this year for several programs.
2020 RB Peny Boone - #15 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 16 offers. Boone is a big-bodied and fast RB prospect.
2020 OT Deondre Buford - #20 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 14 offers. Buford is extremely athletic and runs well for 6'5 245 lbs. He's shown the ability to be a dominant player this year.
2020 WR/DB Lemuel Watley - #27 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 10 offers. Watley is a very dynamic player who has added playing defensive this year to his arsenal. He's a speedster who has shown an ability to make game-changing plays this year.
2021 S Jaylen Reed is an upcoming 5'10 183 lbs prospect who is physical and has wheels. He came into the box and made some nice tackles last we seen him vs. Muskegon in week 2.
2020 DE/OLB Randy Winans is a high-motored and long, pass rusher who can really disrupt an offense.
2019 DT Walt Landers had to step up this year with 2 key transfers on the defensive line and he has done just that for King. Landers is a mauler in the inside.
River Rouge:
2019 DE Ruke Orhorhoro - #3 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Clemson commit. Orhorhoro is the first player from Michigan to commit to Clemso in over 40 years.
2019 ATH Daraun McKinney - #44 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Northern Illinois commit. State record holder for kickoff and punt returns for a touchdown in a season.
2019 WR/CB Kamal Hadden - #47 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Central Michigan commit.
2019 QB Emanuel Ferguson - #48 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. Dual-threat QB who is committed to Air Force. King allowed 4 rushing touchdowns, if they don't get things straightened out this week, Ferguson is an experienced QB who can really hurt King.
2019 DE Jaylen Henderson - #76 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. 3 offers. Henderson has really come on strong as a senior and definitely playing himself into bigger offers / ranking.
2019 CB/Slot Chrysten Cochran - #84 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2019. North Dakota commit.
2019 ATH Mekhi Hunt - 5'10 170 lbs explosive playmaker who the Panthers like to use at QB with a bit more speed and elusiveness than Ferguson.
2019 DT Dontrell Walker - 6'1 275 lbs interior mauler who gets it done on both side of the ball. Walker is committed to Davenport.
2020 RB De'Andre Bulley - #24 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. Bulley has 6 offers and more will be on the way. An every down Back.
2020 LB Deshawn Walker - #35 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 2 offers.
2020 CB David Carter Jr - #37 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 4 offers.
2020 TE Chastin Cross - #57 ranked The D Zone prospect in the Class of 2020. 6'4 200 lbs.
2019 RB Caleef Jenkins is a tough runner at 5'11 225 lbs and he doesn't go down on first contact. The senior RB is committed to Davenport.
2021 CB LeRoy Watson - Watson will be the next great DB to come out of Rouge. Rouge has become a factory for DB's in recent years.
2020 Slot Rmontate Caldwell is a 5'11 155 lbs Slot who is a speedy player who shifts gears well.
